WAGC World Final

What is the WAGC?

The World Amateur Golfers Championship is a Swedish institution dedicated to the development of amateur golf internationally. It was founded in 1995 by Sven Tumba to foster international relations and provide all amateur golfers with the experience of participating in a world championship similar to a professional tour, and the prestige of representing their nation against players of similar skill levels. The WAGC has a presence in more than 40 countries worldwide, making it currently the largest amateur championship in the world.

WAGC – Official Tournament

Each country organizes its own national championship. The top five players from each country, one for each level of handicap, plus the captain, represent their country in the World Final, which has a total of approximately 400 participants. The finalists travel to the World Championship with all expenses paid by the organizers. The 2026 World Championship will be held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and will be played on four of the best courses in the region.

WAGI – Invitational

This is a parallel tournament to the Official Tournament, played both individually and in pairs. It offers golfers the opportunity to experience the excitement of a world championship without needing to qualify beforehand. Participants go directly to the World Final and pay their own costs. Each country brings its representatives to the tournament. It is an event focused on networking and public relations. Participants have the same rights and experiences as those in the official tournament.
